Paris in August is pretty dead! The only activity is around a handful of tourist locations; Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and a few other spots on the banks of the river Seine where desperate hawkers pounce on anyone passing by… the rest of the city seemed devoid of life. This was evident when I rode my bike around the city – I’d go for miles and there’d only be me on the road so … Adelaide was a welcomed figure in a dull, empty and eerie landscape.

Curious to know what was going on I stopped and introduced myself. I explained that I was working on a project called  Global Melody and asked if she would be happy to participate – she wasn’t keen, at first, only because she was actually on her way home from a “very, very long party”.  She felt very seedy, hungry and slightly hungover. Adelaide explained how all her best friends were elsewhere soaking up the sun while she had to stay in Paris and work. After about 15 minutes she agreed to participate as long as the photo I took didn’t show any of junk food she was carrying, it didn’t.
